  • Less than 40 percent of federal stimulus money for education has actually been sent to states to spend, according to an analysis by the New America Foundation. A chart with details on the amount of money set aside for each education-related category of the stimulus and the amount that has been dispersed can be found on the foundation’s Ed Money Watch blog.
  • The proposal to cut music, art and physical education specialists from the Toledo Public Schools is drawing complaints from the community, the Toledo Blade reports. Officials say it’s just one of many possibilities; other ideas include trimming salaries, sports and transportation. The Toledo Board of Education is scheduled to vote on the potential cuts at the end of the month.
