  • The Plain Dealer looks at a proposal from a group of teachers at East High School who hope to save their building from closure under the Cleveland Metropolitan School District’s transformation plan. The teachers’ proposal includes keeping half the school open as a teacher-run charter and turning half into a community center. The Board of Education is expected to vote on the district’s transformation plan tonight.
  • State Senator Jon Husted is upset about the amount of money Ohio would dedicate to communications if the state wins a federal Race to the Top grant, according to Columbus Dispatch reporter Catherine Candisky. The state’s proposal included communications-related requests that would total more than $1,640,000.
  • Education Week’s education politics blog, Politics K-12, reports that the Senate will hold its first hearing on the renewal of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act today.
