Some potential winners of a federal Investing in Innovation grant are having more trouble than they expected finding matching funds, Education Week reports. The Department of Education announced the highest-scoring applicants for the grant last month, but those applicants had to ensure 20 percent in matching funds before they could officially receive their grant. The deadline for finding those funds is next week.
Could the middle school model hold back adolescents’ academic progress? A recent study comparing the performance of students in New York City’s middle schools and K-8 schools suggests that could be the case, Education Next reports.
