Two consortia of states won federal money to create new assessments, Education Week reports. Earlier today, the U.S. Department of Education announced the winners of its smaller Race to the Top competition, which was focused on creating improved assessments based on the common core state standards. Ohio was part of both winning consortia.

The Cincinnati-based group is seeking public input on how to make schools more effective and efficient. The group will deliver the best suggestions to the governor’s office before the state begins talking about next year’s budget, The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
